Gavin Pope
Gavin moved to Las Vegas in 2004 after receiving a Master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale Fl. He has been practicing as a certified physician assistant at Desert Orthopedic Center for over two years. He has worked with Dr. Hugh Bassewitz in spinal surgery, Dr. Todd Swanson in total joint replacements, and Dr. Troy Watson in foot and ankle. As a physician assistant his duties include surgical first assist, hospital rounds, pre-operative history and physicals, post surgical care, and follow up appointments in the office. Gavin moved to Las Vegas to be closer to his family and to enjoy the many recreational activities available. Gavin is the youngest of seven children although he does share that spot with his identical twin brother. He has lived in Minneapolis, MN, Bountiful, UT, Chicago, IL, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Las Vegas, NV. He enjoys hiking in Mt. Charleston, Rock climbing at Red Rock canyon, Wakeboarding at Lake Mead, golfing, volleyball and soccer. Orthopedics has always interested Gavin as he was heavily involved in athletics and competed in gymnastics at the collegiate level. He majored in exercise physiology and then worked as a personal trainer for two years prior to beginning graduate school. He enjoys the ever changing field of medicine and working with the excellent physicians and staff at Desert Orthopedic Center.
